The other popular serial which is loved by many is Kaal Bhairat. It tells the story of a young man called Premchand who falls in love with a Chinese girl named Hua Qi. The two get married soon after and the show is about the couple’s journey to become the best of friends and live a happily ever after.

The third most watched Indian television serial is Kaal Bahu Ki Jawani. It is similar to the mother-in-law and family-values-driven Manjiri. The name is quite interesting as it takes twists and turns yet it is based on a true incident that happened in India. The story revolves around the daughter of a prominent politician and soon finds herself caught between the establishment and people’s sentiment when her husband refuses to marry her.

The first season ended with a cliffhanger and it was then revealed that Premchand had fallen in love with Ms. Hua Qi. They married and had a son. However, Ms. Hua Qi suddenly dies and is replaced by Manjiri. The new female head of the government immediately suspects Manjiri of being involved with Ms. Hua Qi and wants to banish him to China. The new PM then realizes that the reason Ms. Hua Qi died was because of his negligence while watching Indian television shows. The plot of the story highlights PM’s obsession with Indian life and follows the PM’s attempts to make things right.
