Is the McDonald’s PS5 controller legit, or just clowning? [UPDATE: Real, sort of]

This week the collaboration of the Sony Playstation McDonald’s McDonald’s appeared in Australia. This collaboration seems to result in a new Australian luxury McDonalds celebration of the 50th birthday, PlayStation 5 controller. The strange semigih about this situation is not that the controller is there, but it seems there is no promotional support from McDonald’s Australia, Sony Australia, or one of the game ribbons that should take part in the release.

According to Press Start, McDonald’s Australia “has created 50 of these limited edition PS5 controllers.” The restaurant chain runs with the name of the daily language “Maccas” in Australia – Press Start said that a series of “Maccas Stream” (Video Game Streamer to be associated with McDonald’s Australia) participated in the release of this controller.

We have reached McDonalds (both Australia and the United States) to see what they should say about the situation. Meanwhile, we can still discuss the display of the controller.

The controller certainly looks valid. This is the Sony Playstation 5 controller with McDonald’s custom details, including McDonald’s Stylized fries at the bottom left, the burger at the bottom right, and the white / red color scheme throughout. Triangle button, box, circle, and yellow x with gray / mustard yellow print – equal from the directional button set. The bumper and joystick button remains black, and the touchpad in the middle has a McDonald’s logo.

The design seems to be executed quite well so it might be a legitimate official release. If not, we must provide a teaching aids or people responsible for designing this image – it looks good enough to eat!

Stay here when we learn more about this very strange situation, and don’t lose lunch when we know that it’s all very real – or cunning oddity from the start? We will see!

Update: Representative McDonalds responded, by saying “Unfortunately McDonald’s Stream Week has been postponed and will not continue this Sunday. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this change to our announcement schedule.”

So it’s certainly real, but – at the same time – it doesn’t really happen (however, however). Your fingers McDonald’s get this hardware so that it is in a real way, faster than later!
