The rumors of a CNN transmission service were true. The network has presented a CNN + service that will offer a mixture of live and order programs that are “separated and different” from existing television coverage. It will be debuted at some point in the first quarter of 2022. CNN has not reduced the price, but the main executive, Andrew Morse, told the variety in an interview that there would be no level admitted in the launch.
The centerpiece, as would, will be the live material. CNN + plans to offer eight to 12 hours of topical coverage in depth and material “lifestyle” every day, with veterans and newly arrived at the helm. You will also have possibilities for interacting with anchors and experts in real-time discussions. This will not be a digital replica of the usual CNN news, then, but you can have reasons to tune every day.
The catalog on demand that was not surprising faucet in the existing CNN collection, including programs such as Anthony Bourdain: unknown and united parties of America. There will be performances and original movies for Internet service, although CNN + will not reveal at the later in 2021.
Officially, Morse said that CNN + would not be included or tied HBO Max despite the WarnerMedia connection. However, variety sources affirm that there was a “solid probability”, the service would be included with HBO Max and Discovery + after WarnerMedia and the discovery would end their merger.
Morse considered the CNN + Launch the greatest that the network has had since the TV service began in June 1980. It was also the possibility of experimenting with formats that erase the distinctions between entertainment and news, the executive added.
The question, of course, is if the spectators will bite or not. CNN has been successful with content prolonged as the latest Anthony Bourdain shows, but it is not clear if people are ready to pay a monthly fee to see them. There is also the question of the surcharge of the transmission service: it is possible that it is not delighted to subscribe to another offer, however, just to make sure you reach everything that CNN has to offer.
